White kitchens with timber accents, minimalism in the form of exposed timber, brickwork and concrete and cleverly hidden storage ideas are among the most popular interior design trends in Australia right now, according to Houzz Australia, an online platform for homeowners and professionals to share inspiration for remodelling and designing properties.
The website has announced the Best of Houzz 2015 winners, the properties that were the most popular on their site in 2014. A striking, minimalist living room by Robert Mills Architects and Interior Designers was among the most popular living room designs on the site.
True to the Australian lifestyle, properties with outdoor areas and swimming pools also featured heavily in the list, like Phase 3 Landscape Construction’s pool and deckside hideaway in Perth.
Houzz Australia managing director Jason Chuck said most homes in this year's awards have a contemporary modern feel but an emerging trend is an eco-friendly theme throughout residential design.
"It's really reflective in the images that more and more homeowners and professionals are using natural materials and this trend is growing rapidly," he told Daily Mail Australia.
