In light of today’s 88th Academy Awards, we take a look inside Cate Blanchett’s new apartment.

Located in the Astor building on Sydney’s prestigious Macquarie St, Blanchett, 46, and her playwright husband Andrew Upton, 49, purchased the $8m apartment last year, yet have only moved in recently.

Purchased in August 2015 from The Celebrity Apprentice star, Mark Bouris, the property was previously owned by Australian-icon Barry Humphries.

The five bedroom, four bathroom apartment spans two-storeys and covers over 420 square meters, connected by a beautiful spiral staircase.

With extensive views from a lost any window, from Sydney Harbour Bridge, to the Sydney Opera House, the contemporary apartment provides quality finishes throughout, including an area that has been called a ‘media room’.

The huge apartment has high ceilings, a light colour scheme and an eye for detail.

The bathrooms, featuring marble floors and walls, is slightly dated, but the shear size of them make the design faux-pas easier to ignore.

The Hollywood power-couple, who have only recently sold their 3642 square metre, $20m home in Hunter’s Hill, are still living in the USA for another year or so, but have begun the moving-phase on their Sydney properties.

Cate Blanchett, known for her films, Elizabeth, Blue Jasmine and the most recently Oscar nominated, Carol, is arguably one of Australia’s most talented actors who has made it big across the pond.
