Anne Hathaway has plucked off a historic apartment in Manhattan's Upper West Side.

Purchased for just under $5m AUD, the pregnant Hathaway and her producer husband, Adam Shulman, recently left Brooklyn for LA, and now find themselves back in The Big Apple.

Expecting their first child, the 1200 square foot apartment features 2 large bedrooms, and 2 bathrooms, with a towering 18 foot ceiling height throughout.

Now divided, the address was previously a neighbourhood mansion built in 1904, ultimately regarded as one of the last free-standing houses built in the Upper West Side.

Whilst a sweeping iron staircase will catch the attention of those entering the apartment for the first time, it's the private terrace that is arguably the apartments best feature.

The large terrace is perfect for summer night cocktail parties, or for a morning breakfast in the spring.

Hathaway, who has starred in record-breaking blockbusters such as The Dark Knight Rises, to musical-films such as Les Miserables, is world renowned for her kind touch and privacy.

With an apartment, tucked away in the middle of Upper West Side, it is definitely not as flamboyant as you would expect from a Hollywood star.
