13,500 Homes To Be Created From Sydney Apartments

Planning Minister Rob Stokes last week released draft plans for new homes, jobs, infrastructure and public facilities around three Sydney Metro Northwest stations.

Mr Stokes said the NSW Government’s plans for precincts around Showground, Bella Vista and Kellyville stations include around 13,500 new homes, 14,000 new jobs, areas for schools, high quality public spaces, pedestrian and cycle links and road upgrades.

“Our plans will support these precincts to become vibrant new towns, with new homes close to jobs, parks, shops and restaurants,” Mr Stokes said.

“These plans will shape the future of this area over the next 20 years, and I encourage everyone to have their say on how we can make your community an even better place to live as our city grows.”

Minister for Transport and Infrastructure Andrew Constance said the Sydney Metro Northwest will transform the region.

"We've been working hand in hand with the community over the past four and a half years to deliver the best project possible and it's evident in innovations like the skytrain, which keeps the community connected by allowing people and vehicles to move around underneath the new metro line,” Mr Constance said.

"Sydney's north west will be the first to get a new metro rail service unlike anything ever seen in Australia, with new state-of-the-art trains every four minutes in the peak - and work is now underway to extend Sydney Metro into the city and beyond."

Member for Baulkham Hills David Elliott, Member for Castle Hill Ray Williams and Member for Seven Hills Mark Taylor welcomed the draft plans.

“The Bella Vista station precinct will be a great boost to the Hills economy, ensuring huge attendances at community events such as Christmas in the Hills,” Mr Elliott said.

“The opportunity to provide residential growth for new vibrant communities, together with a world class public transport system is a first for the north western Sydney region,” Mr Williams said.

“Our community has already been very generous with its input and I encourage them again to have to have their say on these draft plans,” said Mr Taylor.

The Draft Precinct Plans are now on exhibition until 28 February 2016.
