At the heart of this sustainable store is the custodian, Leon Mugavin. After gaining considerable experience on a vegetable, cattle, and dairy farm in Port Fairy, an article on the future of food retail stopped him in his tracks, and he knew he had to open his own store. 

That day arrived ten years later and with it proud parents and three children that forever inspired the store’s philosophy: ‘If it’s not good enough to feed my family, it’s not good enough to be in my store’.

With the same fresh approach to quality over quantity, the village grocer will give customers the opportunity to create ownership of The Leaf Store. Inviting feedback means that this wonderful store continues to adapt to society’s changes.

For example, 70 per cent of plastic has now been eliminated from the business, along with innovative approaches such as wrapping organic beans with banana leaves, and a home delivery service — all signs that The Leaf Store and 835 High will be delivering healthy convenience for years to come.

This magical mix of lifestyle and luxury is the cornerstone of what 835 High is built on. The latter of which is on show for all to see in the magnificent foyer — setting the tone for the rest of this lavish development.

Moda has commissioned internationally renowned Sydney artist and sculptor Anna-Wili Highfield to create a stunning 12-metre high feature piece in this grand and communal gateway.

Anna-Wili has eschewed the traditional gallery system with a trajectory that has taken her work from a local designer’s living room to the boutiques of Tiffany and Hermès. She now presents ‘Bird’ to 835 High, which wraps elegantly into the interior lobby space, dynamically animating the void by dancing with light and shadow play.

For Moda, a place to live should be light and modern, and they have brilliantly brought this philosophy into the opulent residences at 835 High. Carr Design present homes that feature layered textures and natural materials, guided by the dynamic appeal of Armadale’s arts precinct.
