Northside has well and truly got its contemporary residential game on with a growing reputation for boutique apartment developments. Abbotsford’s once-industrial leafy streets are about to take delivery of a new approach to such a project – Aeon.

This low-rise three level building containing 63 luxury apartments comes from developer Maydan Group, no strangers to Melbourne’s residential scene thanks to their 20 yeas experience.

Aeon comprises a selection of one and two bedroom apartments, although there are a limited number of three bedroom residences for those who act quickly enough.

Wireframe Architecture have taken time to get to know the much sought-after Abbotsford landscape before creating a set of apartments that acknowledges its past and sets a foot firmly in the future.

With an elegant brick street level facade the building fits perfectly into the surrounding architecture whilst offering a contemporary approach to the streetscape.

We’re pretty impressed with the light and airy interiors at Aeon, which are certainly helped by the floor to ceiling windows allowing plenty of natural light to flood in.

Styling your own space will be a joy here thanks to the open plan layouts, which allow you to define your living areas as you wish with furnishings and art. Contemporary yet homely, the European oak flooring sets the tone combined with the light and dark interior schemes designed to offer a neutral springboard for your own tastes.

Whilst there are more restaurants than you can shake a stick at just minutes away (more on that later) you may well find yourself inspired to cook more at home thanks to the fashionably functional kitchen. Designed around bold, geometric lines, spread out your ingredients on spacious stone-finish bench tops. We’re always glad to see plenty of cabinetry to keep everything in check, plus the smart lighting and central island bench mean entertaining in this space is just as easy.

As befitting a space defined by its ability to soothe, the bedrooms are elegantly simple, with soft carpeting and built-in robes.

Let’s talk about outdoor space. Sometimes the word ‘balcony’ is a bit of an overstatement, but here that’s not the case. Every apartment features a genuinely spacious external courtyard or terrace, so you’ll have your own private outdoor area to relax and entertain. Architectural sun shading and geometric steel panelling also adds to the character and privacy.

Getting to know the neighbours is a big plus in such a friendly neighbourhood, and Aeon has put this at the heart of the plan with the addition of a communal courtyard for all to share.

Our friends and colleagues living in Abbotsford love the easy tram and train connections to the CBD whilst being close to the tranquil Yarra river for weekend walks. Taking a stroll to the art galleries and picnic lawns of nearby Abbotsford Convent is also a bonus for locals.

Like your shopping on the quirky side? Nearby Johnston Street has you covered. This favourite of ours offers up cool cafes, vintage vinyl fashion. Or head to Victoria Street for a host of food choices and fresh produce. This renowned Vietnamese food district covers everything from the cheap and cheerful to guidebook favourites.

This boutique collection of heritage style apartment homes is sure to be a hit with CBD commuters and anyone looking to establish themselves in one of Melbourne’s truly character-filled inner suburbs.
