The transformation of the Dockland’s NewQuay precinct is set to continue with the introduction of a 4,600 square metre park set around new residential development, Banksia.

Banksia, its form inspired by the Australian native flower, is part of the $140 million NewQuay project developed by MAB Corporation. Founder and Executive Director of MAB Corporation Andrew Buxton is excited to see the project take shape.

“We want Docklands to become more than just apartments and office buildings, but a place people love to live, work, play and visit. Having public spaces including waterfront gardens, parks and art will drive this transformation.

“With its statement design and surrounding parkland, Banksia is our latest project in bringing this vision to life,” said Mr Buxton.

Over the last 13 years, MAB Corporation has spearheaded the development of the NewQuay precinct – including the recent launch of the 1800 square metre Monument Park, a visually dynamic arts and landscape space for the public, as well as a number of residential and mixed-use developments.

This year, NewQuay will see the opening of the $18 million Ron Barassi Snr Park, a state government initiative that will feature a football oval overlaid on two full sized soccer fields, netball courts, play equipment and a community pavilion.

According to the City of Melbourne Census of Land Use and Employment 2014, in 2014 Docklands was home to more than 53,000 jobs (up 44 per cent from 2012) as well as 190 cafes and restaurants, 14 bars and pubs and seven education institutes. The latest research by the Grattan Institute also revealed that Docklands has become an economic powerhouse with workers generating $50 more per hour than the city wide average.

“The Docklands has come a long way in achieving economic success and proving its role in the sustainable growth and future of Melbourne. The area will continue to mature and evolve and we’re confident the infrastructure, facilities and public spaces will support a lifestyle and economy we can all be proud of,” said Mr Buxton.

Located on the edge of Victoria Harbour, Banksia will comprise of 108 apartments across 18 levels, including one to four bedroom luxury residences.

“Banksia and public spaces like this new park provide a boost to not only NewQuay but the Docklands as a whole, helping to fulfil its potential as one of Australia’s prime waterfront locations,” continued Mr Buxton.

“There are only a handful of locations with the necessary attributes for a true luxury project and we felt that the Docklands was one of those opportunities. We wanted to optimise this spectacular site and are delighted to showcase what MAB can achieve with Banksia.”

MAB Corporation have continued their award winning partnership with celebrated architect McBride Charles Ryan to create four distinct interior styles – Organic, Expressive, Blackened Silver and White & Gold – allowing buyers to make their apartments their own.

Banksia residents will enjoy generous space and luxurious living throughout the entire home including expansive balconies, large entertaining areas including big kitchen and step-in pantries, as well as walk-in robes and master bedroom ensuites.

Features in the sky homes and penthouse apartments include a dedicated lift, separate laundry with in-built appliances, butler’s kitchen with a wine fridge and caterer’s cooking facilities, lock-up garages, piano room, fireplace, separated living areas with their own outdoor terraces, and ensuites overlooking the water.

All residents will have access to the Banksia Club which includes a bar, grand piano room, business facilities, gymnasium, and a spectacular roof garden with BBQ outdoor dining areas, and spa pools.

The display suite will be open in July and will be located at 24 NewQuay Promenade, Docklands. Construction is expected to commence in late 2016 and is due for completion in early 2018.
