With Australians increasingly purchasing properties in LA, New York, Detroit, Las Vegas and Houston, agents need to learn how to facilitate international real estate transactions. This is why the Real Estate Institute of Australia has teamed up with the National Association of Realtors, the largest trade association in North America, to provide members with new online courses that will enable them to reach a broader customer base.

Estate agents who get a Certified International Property Specialist designation, the only one of its kind in the real estate community, are licensed to sell properties overseas. The CIPS designation will provide Australian agents with an opportunity to become part of the CIPS network comprising of 2,800 real estate professionals from 45 countries. There are six international courses developed by Global Business and Alliances of the National Association of Realtors. These courses are designed to introduce real estate professionals to the skills and knowledge necessary to facilitate international real estate transactions.

Quentin Kilian, CEO of the Real Estate Institute of the Northern Territory, recently completed the CIPS course through the National Association of Realtors in the US. “It was a very interesting course as it taught me a lot about how real estate is transacted in different countries and the rules that govern real estate ownership,” Kilian said. “The other great thing about being a CIPS graduate is that I now have contact with other CIPS graduates around the globe and I’m starting to build a big network of contacts."
