Mayfair is the complete package – elegantly curved forms, high-end imported and Australian-made materials, as well as unique residents’ amenities – and those in the market to buy have the opportunity to live there.

When developer UEM Sunrise initially received a planning permit for the site on St Kilda Road, it commissioned an international design competition and invited just three practices to participate. Of those three, world-renowned Zaha Hadid Architects (ZHA) won the design rights to Mayfair.

Working in conjunction with Elenberg Fraser, ZHA has crafted the building referencing intelligent design principles and the result is an elegant rolling facade with loop-shaped balconies that is unlike any other building in Melbourne.

Inside, the offerings range in size from one-bedroom apartments right up to the five-bedroom penthouses, and ZHA’s signature curved design is evident throughout each residence. Expansive open floorplans connect seamlessly with balconies and terraces, offering views of many of Melbourne’s favourite landmarks.

Depending on the aspect, homeowners will have the chance to enjoy a morning coffee while looking out over the sprawling, lush lawns of the Royal Botanic Gardens or Albert Park, or have dinner against a backdrop of the sun setting over the sparkling waters of Port Philip Bay. Alternatively, residents can view all three at once from selected corner apartments and the rooftop terrace – where beautifully landscaped gardens and bubbling jacuzzis await.

Mayfair features quality imported joinery, sanitary wares and fittings, bathtubs as well as appliances from Europe that are settled in legacy — including Villeroy & Boch, Hoesch, SieMatic, and Miele. Bespoke interior finishes, including custom furniture designed specially by ZHA for Mayfair, are made locally in Australia.

With high-end residents-only facilities like the heated 25m swimming pool and state-of-the-art gym on the lower levels, as well as an entertainment theatre perfect for hosting friends and family, it will be hard to find reasons to leave the building.

Despite this, the project’s prominent location gives residents access to the best amenities on offer in one of the world’s most liveable cities. The Domain Precinct – home to the Shrine of Remembrance and Royal Botanic Gardens – is less than a 10-minute walk from Mayfair’s doorstep. And, on the other side, Albert Park Lake is only a short stroll away.

With a tram stop right outside the door, and the new Metro Station currently under construction, residents can explore their new neighbourhood, taking advantage of the abundance of arts and cultural facilities nearby. The National Gallery of Victoria and Hamer Hall are less than 2km away – meaning seeing new exhibitions and plays will be a relaxed affair. Better yet, these institutions are connected to the Crown dining precinct where locals enjoy alfresco lunches on the waterfront or else visit the entertainment precinct at the casino – complete with retail options and cinema.

Nowhere else in Melbourne offers this amount of innovative design detail in such a convenient and connected location.
