Johnny Depp is selling his downtown Los Angeles apartments. That’s right, we said apartments, plural. In fact, Depp is selling all five penthouse apartments he bought on the top floor of the iconic Eastern Columbia Building in downtown Los Angeles.

Comprising four two-bedroom apartments and one single bedroom, Depp apparently created one large residence by joining three of the five apartments together with connecting doorways. When you’re Willy Wonka, The Mad Hatter and Captain Jack Sparrow rolled into one, you can do that kind of thing.

Featuring a much-loved and recognisable clock tower, the stunning Art Deco building was built in 1930 by the Sieroty family as the headquarters for their furniture and clothing business.

Designed by renowned architect Claud Beelman the building is clad with glossy turquoise terra cotta tiling, a hugely popular colour during the Art Deco period (if you’re watching the current season of The Block, you’ll know this already).

Beelman’s talent resulted in no fewer than 15 of his residential and civic buildings being listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Whether or not Depp is offloading this investment as a result of his recent US$7million divorce from Amber Heard is not known. Either way, with a current asking price of US$12.78million he is set to make a reasonable profit, having bought them back in 2007-8 for around US$7.2million.
