Designed by Elenberg Fraser, Papersmith Apartments is a collection of boundary-pushing apartments in the forward-thinking new suburb, YarraBend.

Part of Glenvill’s $1.2 billion redevelopment of the former Alphington Paper Mill, Papersmith Apartments consists of 214 one, two and three-bedroom residences, split across four boutique buildings. Raw, industrial inspired materials including concrete frames and corten steel pay homage to the site’s character-filled past, balanced by tranquil landscaping, creating a true sanctuary in one of Melbourne’s most sought-after areas. The considered design extends to the subterranean wellness centre below Papersmith Apartments which makes fitness - both mental and physical - easily attainable for residents.

“Papersmith represents a new era of transformational living at YarraBend,” Elenberg Fraser Principal, Caleb Smith, says. “Bold materials celebrate the contrast between the site’s rich history and the ancient river landscape. Papersmith is about living where the city meets nature”

“The landscape is drawn through the building in the colours of the finishes and joinery. Contrast between the natural and raw, the smooth and rough plays out through the interior spaces.”

Two internal schemes allow purchasers to incorporate their own personal style, with distinctive colour palettes and customised curated stone and wood finishes that reflect the historic Outer Circle railway that once serviced the mill.

Natural light floods living and sleeping areas, and each home offers either a generous terrace or balcony, or a beautiful winter garden, the latter of which is a flexible space that can be enclosed for year-round enjoyment.

YarraBend is built on six key pillars including technology, sustainability and design, aimed at enhancing the lives of residents and their guests, but it’s the wellness pillar that really comes into focus in this new release. Sitting above a world-class wellness centre, Papersmith Apartments offers residents daily motivation in spades.

The subterranean Health and Wellness Centre has over 1,500m2 of tailored spaces to sweat or relax, including 25m indoor and outdoor pools, a wading pool, outdoor onsen spas, a steam room and sauna, a yoga studio, a Technogym virtual studio, a zen room, massage rooms and an advanced gym.

Elenberg Fraser’s Caleb Smith says, “the health and wellness centre is a space of personal transformation. Restorative experiences are set into a calming environment that merges the interior and exterior landscape”

Utilising cutting edge technology and human-centric design, the facility will offer both real and virtual classes and premium Technogym equipment – a range of machines that integrate connectivity, sustainability, seamless design and movement. While YarraBend’s app, exclusive to residents, will allow users to check how busy the gym is from the comfort of their own home, as well as book services like personal training and massages.

The wellness centre will be accessible via the Paper Trail - an elevated path which takes its cues from New York City’s High Line. Landscape architecture firm, ASPECT Studios, has drawn on the surrounding parks and trails to create the pedestrian and bike-friendly path. With lush landscaping and a unique urban vibe, it offers a connection to the wider masterplan, actively encouraging residents to incorporate more cycling and walking into their daily routines.

Destined to be one of the world’s most liveable suburbs by 2025, this 14 hectare, future-focused development is setting a new standard of urban design. Once completed, YarraBend will comprise of 1,500 houses, townhouses, lofts and apartments – and the exciting new Papersmith Apartments release gives purchasers the opportunity to snap up a truly enviable piece of Melbourne real estate, just 6.5km from the CBD.
