466 Collins St, named Collins House, is projected to reach nearly 195 metres, with 57 levels of apartments - oh it and it is only 12 metres wide.

Designed by Bates Smart, Collins House will feature 263 luxury apartments, and is being developed by Golden Age Group.

Whilst slim-line skyscrapers are uncommon in Melbourne, they are prominent in the New York skyline, as space is comparively limited.

Interestingly, the Flatiron building in New York, which was built in 1902, is only 2 metres wide at its corner-point.

Golden Age Group director Jeff Xu said he was concerned nor worried about perceptions of an oversupply in Melbourne.

"An oversupply exists when there isn't enough buyers for what is currently on the market or is being brought to market and that isn't what we are seeing," he said. "We purchased the Collins House site last year following the huge interest in our Victoria One project a few blocks away."

Collins House is expected to be completed in 2018.
