Jarred Lions and Erin Sing have secured one of the stunning townhouses at Rose and Bird, and we asked them a few questions about their experience.

Before securing your new home at Rose & Bird, how long had you been looking?

We’d been loosely looking for the last six or so months, but with the reports of the housing market making a strong bounce back and 2020 being a strong year for property, we thought we had to act sooner rather than later to ensure we didn’t get priced out of the market. So we had roughly three solid months of looking right across the city’s inner 10km fringe.

Had you seen any of Metro Property Development or Clarke Hopkins Clarke’s work before?

We’ve heard of Metro Property Development before, and it was comforting to know that such a large and reputable developer would be working on this new development. We’ve purchased off-the-plan in the past, so know how important it is to have a credible developer – and a 10 year building guarantee – in these situations.

Why did you decide to choose Rose & Bird?

Rose & Bird’s liveability is amazing. We had looked right around Melbourne’s inner suburbs, and we couldn’t find anything that compared with Rose & Bird’s liveability of townhomes. A big selling point for us was the large kitchen and living areas - perfect for entertaining - that open up onto a nice size yard. This flow of the house was really important to us and we’re so glad we’ve got it! Location and proximity to the city, to Maribyrnong River and to Williamstown Beach were also big selling points.

Did you choose the light or dark scheme?

We chose the light colour scheme - of course.

What is your favourite design element in your new home at Rose & Bird?

The usable common spaces - being able to share a dinner, movie or bbq with friends and family. As a couple that competes for TV rights, having two separate living areas makes relaxing a lot easier. Erin, of course, is excited about a walk in wardrobe – for me, it’s more about having a patch of grass to water

How have you found the process of buying off-the-plan?

Buying off-the-plan has been a really simple process for us. We’ve done it before, so knew the right questions to ask and what to look for. The team at Metro and Marshall White have been really accommodating with design changes, adding additional power points and data points and other upgrades. We feel like we’ve really been able to make this home ours throughout this process.

Jarred and Erin made an intelligent decision when they purchased their new off-the-plan townhouse at Rose and Bird, as buying off-the-plan is often far more cost effective than renting.

Renting a home of a similar size and location to Rose and Bird will cost $600 per week in Maribyrnong, which could end up being close to double what you may spend on mortgage repayments of your new townhouse. Buying at Rose and Bird also gives you a plethora of added advantages including certainty and stability, and the ability to accrue capital growth and equity in your home.

At Rose and Bird – private, generously proportioned gardens extend the spacious living areas and give you a chance to spread out and enjoy your home. These spaces also make entertaining a dream, and guests will love the attention to detail and focus on functionality and style that abounds in your new home.

Maribyrnong is home to a number of fantastic cafés, restaurants, entertainment options and shopping retailers, and all less than 9km from the Melbourne CBD. The area is known for the many amazing lifestyle offerings and amenities that fill the suburb, as well as an array of recreational facilities, lush parks, nature reserves and playgrounds.
