The increasingly residential suburb of Alexandria was at one time one of the busiest industrial centres in Australia, giving rise to a host of late Victorian homes and early twentieth century warehouses now being repurposed for new use.

Just 4km from the centre of Sydney the area is rich in brick-built architecture and plenty of parks, and now boasts some of the best bars and coffee shops south side of the CBD.

The proximity to the CBD means Alexandria is an easy choice for city workers balancing convenience and price. It’s a pretty youthful suburb thanks to an average resident age well below 40.

The fact that there are still plenty of leafy streets and the place still has individual character also keep it top of mind for many singles and young couples keen to enjoy the cool coffee spots and bars that are cropping up with increasing regularity.
